Hotel ICON

The highlight of my Hong Kong trip, believe it or not, was the Hotel itself. I love boutique hotels, although Hotel ICON is not really considered as boutique in terms of size, but they offer such quality services that can only be found in boutique hotels. Ranked as the Best 25 hotels in China by the Trip Advisor's Traveller Choice, and other numerous awards under their belt.

The hotel is designed by celebrated architects Terence Conran, Rocco Yim and William Lim. One of their most famous feature is their lush 18 meter vertical garden by Patrick Blanc, that greets the guests and visitors at the lobby. The atmosphere of this place is breathtaking with it's cutting edge yet inviting space. Their minimalistic and organic design for the lobby's seating area and grand sweeping staircase is a very refreshing take for the normally heavily ornate fixture.

One thing that I love about boutique hotels, their environment are more laid back and personal. Most of the time, I felt like chatting with a friend rather than strangers with the staff. The hotel takes hospitality to a totally different level. When I arrived at the hotel, we were escorted to a cozy lounge just for us while they settled on our rooms. Armed with complimentary drinks and introduction of the city, they recommended us many different places and sights to visit during our stay.

The check-in lounge, most walls in the hotel are adorned with paintings from various local designers.

The hotel also created the world's first co-located, and co-lead program, that offers in a teaching and research hotel where the students from Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU. Those that took Hotel and Tourism Management as their course can participate in this unique education at the Hotel ICON's program. If anyone of you would love to take Hotel Management I really recommended Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

There are many designers that participate in this unique creation. You can check the list here. One of them is Vivienne Tam, the world-renown Hong Kong fashion designer that is currently based in New York. She designed the hotel's VT Suite.

My sister, I love this fleet of the moment pose of her, with the city as her backdrop

The bathroom was hidden by a semi circular wood wall paneling, that can be slide in and out as a sliding door.

They offers free mini bar service, including this Nespresso capsules. Great way to start your day. I just love how they pay attention to little details by providing this little acrylic desktop stand. Emblazoned on top, there is a copy that says "You are not seeing double. Mini bar is free," emphasizing on the word "double" printed on both side creating dual image. How creative.

Hotel ICON also offers great dining establishments. GREEN, located at the lobby have an amazing light with tall ceiling and glass wall. Patrons of this establishment can enjoy the breathtaking vertical garden while dining. One of the world's largest indoor vertical garden. What an atmosphere to enjoy your meal. The place is swinging on weekends, reservation is highly recommended. Green opens as a cafe by day and bar by night

The Market , inspired by the iconic food across Asia and Europe, it serve a myriad of international delights from laksa, antipasti and grilled beef. It has a few sections of Deli, Sashimi, Hong Kong, Eastern and Western cuisine, a wide variety of desserts and bakery goods, you will be spoiled for choice. Also functioned as a breakfast place for the hotel's guest, the hotel also offers another breakfast option at the Above & Beyond restaurant, which unfortunately I do not have the chance to visit. Located at the 28th floor, Above & Beyond offers fine-dining Chinese cuisine, with Hong Kong skyline as it's view.

what a great post. i am so happy i stumbled across your blog. not only a geat recommendation and great find, but great information to accompany it as well as photos. i myself am always looking for lovely hotels to stay at while i travel. i personally think the hotel is just as much a part of the experience of traveling. then again, it is also nice to do it "on the cheap" and just stay at a hostel, when you are with friends. anyway, if i am ever in china i will have to remember this hotel.

i have been looking through your blog, and it really is just so lovely, i can see you take a lot of care in making it a thoughtful and wonderful blog full of great information. i am following you now through google connect, and i would also love it if you stop by my blog, and if you like it, a follow back would be lovely!
